Centenary Bank launches Platinum Banking

KAMPALA, April 20, 2012. Ugandans in need of exclusive banking services can now access them at Centenary Bank following the launch of the bank’s Platinum Banking service today, by the Vice President H.E Edward Kiwanuka Sekandi.

Platinum Banking is a special banking offer which is tailored to bring exclusivity to Centenary Bank’s high net worth and corporate business customers, according to Fabian Kasi, the managing director Centenary Bank.

 “It is designed to give our Premium customers a first-class service while transacting within and away from our lavish and spacious banking halls,” Mr Kasi said at the launch of Platinum Banking in Kampala.

With the new experience, the bank’s premium customers will be able to access; fast over-the-counter transactions, free PC banking, wireless internet, extended banking hours up to 7pm between Monday and Friday and up to 4pm on Saturday, SMS alerts on all transactions on their accounts, and a free Corporate Card that guarantees access to premium financial banking products at all Centenary Bank branches.

Speaking at the launch, Hon. Sekandi, lauded Centenary Bank for the innovating banking experience which is in line with today’s customer needs. He said, Platinum Banking not only offers the bank an opportunity to continue catering to the needs of those customers they have hand-held from small business-men to large multi-dimensional business empires, but also offers the bank a chance to be re-appraised in the market. 

On a macro-scale, the VP said, the launch of the service is an important signal to Ugandan businesses to up their game, because with competition, there’s no more room to offer mediocre services to customers.

“It is a signal that superior customer services, is the way to go- whether you are in the private sector or in public service.  Platinum Banking is a reminder that just like we all love to receive great banking service, we should all reciprocate by offering the same great service at our respective place of work,” Hon. Sekandi told guests at the launch. “This is one of the surest ways we can keep Uganda as a competitive destination for tourists, foreign direct investment, capital etc,” he added.

Mr Kasi said Centenary Bank prides itself in moving with the times, cognizant of the evolving needs of its customers. “As our economy grows, we have also seen our customers’ net worth grow in tandem. We know that when people move from one income bracket to another, their lifestyle also shifts and that’s why today, we are launching an innovative offering that matches their lifestyle,” he explained.

To enjoy the benefits of the bank’s new service, customers will be required to either open a Savings Account or Current Account with a minimum deposit of Shs3 million. Platinum Banking is currently available at the bank’s Forest Mall branch and will soon be at Mapeera House, its state-of-the-art headquarters on Kampala Road and other branches countrywide.

The launch of the Platinum Banking coincided with the opening of the bank’s Forest Mall branch, the first platinum banking centre and 50th branch. Mr Kasi said the addition of Forest Mall branch to the bank’s network is part of its outreach strategy aimed at increasing convenience and access to our affordable services by all Ugandans. Centenary currently serves over   1.2million customers across the country, making it the largest microfinance and commercial bank in Uganda.

This year, Centenary will add another 9 new branches to its network in locations including; in Kampala (Mapeera House), Wakiso (Kireka), Kamuli, Kagadi, Kayabwe, Kotido, Moroto, and Apac district.
