Cancer Run 2026 - Get a Kit through the Gonza Pay App
27th February 2026: For 15 years, Centenary Bank and Rotary Uganda have walked this journey together in transforming concern into action and partnership into infrastructure.
Over the years, the Bank has contributed over UGX 3 billion toward the Cancer Run. Together, we have co-funded the construction of the Rotary-Centenary Bank Cancer Centre at Nsambya Hospital, providing screening, chemotherapy, surgery, and palliative care. We have supported the construction of the radiotherapy bunkers to house LINAC machines, which are critical infrastructure that expands access to lifesaving treatment. Together, we have held over 300 health camps nationwide, taking cancer awareness, screening, and early detection services to communities.
We have also sponsored District Conferences, environmental initiatives, the malaria prevention project, backed the Makerere Rotary Peace Center, empowered youth through the Vijana Powa initiative and supported several presidential installations and field events. And in 2025, we proudly launched the Rotary Club of Mapeera, making it the 2nd local financial institution in Uganda to directly host a Rotary Club. Our work together is a shared purpose.
Every year, Centenary Bank sets aside up to 2% of its previous year’s profits to support initiatives that uplift the communities. This is used in areas of education, health, environmental stewardship, financial literacy, church support and other community needs. Therefore, this year, as part of these funds, the Bank will contribute UGX 500 million to support the fight against Cancer.
This year also marks another milestone for Centenary Bank and Rotary. Centenary Bank has an ambitious target of becoming a SMART Bank by the end of 2026. We therefore have several projects running and we are glad to announce that one of them will be used to make the cancer run collections smarter. This is the digital wallet we have named Gonza Pay. With this solution, runners will be able to easily and conveniently pay digitally for the run. It demonstrates how digital innovation can directly power social impact.
This wallet eliminates barriers such as distance, cash handling, and long queues, enabling anyone, anywhere to participate securely and seamlessly. At Centenary Bank, we see this payment platform as a catalyst that connects technology, community, and purpose in real time.
To purchase a kit, participants will have to download the Gonza Pay app and follow the prompts. Kits will be available at most of our branches nationwide.
