ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
A total of 30 initiatives were carried out towards environmental sustainability. The Bank took deliberate steps to partner with cities and municipalities to address current environmental challenges. Among the key initiatives was tree growing starting with Kasese, Masaka and Mbale with a total of 14,689 trees planted by December 2023.
- Masaka, 500 trees planted.
- Mbale, 7,767 planted.
- 2,000 trees in Kasese.
- Staff 1000 trees on world environment day.
- 22 trees planted in Kumi and Pallisa.
- 300 trees planted during Makerere climate run.
- 100 trees planted at Naalya SS.
- 2 000 trees planted in August at St Herman SS Kyotera.
- 1 000 trees in Ntoroko district.
Other environmental initiatives supported include.
- Donation of over 80 waste bins for proper waste management.
- Water tanks to schools for water harvesting.
- SDG Run for awareness of Sustainable Development Goals.
- Climate run for climate risk awareness.
- Community clean ups.
- Aiding construction of drainage systems
